Default Vtec Hits and car turns off

What could be the problem if my friend's car turns off everytime the car hits vtec. It's a eg hatch with a b16, p28, intake, and exhust.

any check engine lights....does it turn off....or does the motor just die yet still continue running.....about a month ago my CEL would come on and the motor just bogged at 6k. So I unplugged the tps sensor till I got a new one and everything works fine

sounds like possibly a bad MAP sensor??...........either way some sensor that calculates load is messed up.......I'm just a vw tech so take my advise at your own risk.........................John

My friend says that it only happens in first gear. If he hits vtec in 2nd gear then it still runs. When he hits vtec in first gear the car turns off completely. Nothing turns on and he has to wait awhile to start the car again. CEL do not turn on.

1st gear = most g-forces (well, as much as you can get in a Honda ) = loose battery/alternator cables.

Check that first.

So i just told my friend to let me ride with him to see what was going on. We had just swap out another p28 to see if it was the ecu. It was not. So i told him to hit vtec in first gear. Car shuts off, but starts up after a couple of minutes. I tell him to try it in 2nd gear and car shuts off as soon as the car hits vtec. We tried starting the car again but no luck. Had to push it back to his house. Lights are still on after motor shuts off. Any clue to what can be the problem? Vtec Selonoid?

im brand new with hondas but im trying to read up on em and i read a similar problem in another forum...

have you checked your cams and make sure they're properly in? Also, have you checked your voltage to the VTEC silinoid (I'm pretty sure that makes sense ). The ECU could read everything is fine and may try to trigger the VTEC at the correct RPMS... What you could do for a start...unplug the VTEC silinoid and start over from there...you could have a hot wire or wtvs....

What if he hasn't taken his cams out?
Also i very seriously highly doubt this is his problem.

TPS or Map sensor.

no ****

but the car turning off has nothing to do with oil pressure.
