Default Vtec engagement problem

I am having problems with the vtec engaging. Right when it kicks in, it starts to jump in and out of vtec, like it wants to go in but doesnt. Not sure what it could be, i have vafc but i have not had any problems with it for the year or so that i have had it. Any suggestions?

He's right If your vtec oil pressure switch closes then it will stop activation of vtec. If your oil is ok then check to see if you have a loose connection at your vafc or at the solenoid.. If nothings wrong it might be the solenoid. Seen a few go bad.

check the vafc wiring to the ecu, how did you install it, make sure there are no loose connections on the ecu and your vtec solenoid.

Plugged it into the pgm and it is throwing two codes, 1259 (Vtec system failure and Evap Leak) I guess the solenoid is gone. As for the Evap Leak i don't know what the hell that could be!
