Default 1998 Prelude, Turbo + 5-7psi + fmu.....good Idea?

Alright.

1998 Prelude Base..AUTOMATIC.

Can't just switch to OBD1 and get Hondata or Uberdata....it's auto, that don't work.

Only options are:

-AFC Hack
-FMU
-EFI PMS

Car is only driven on the weekends, it's my GF's car, she's not hard on it, we're going to go to a couple track events, other then that, it will be at car shows.

Next year the motor will be built, I want to wait till then to get the EFI PMS, I was going to get the larger injectors (RC 550's) and run the hack....but now I'm thinking it might be easier to just run a FMU and leave the stock injectors in there for now.

We'll most likely only run 5psi MAYBE 7psi we'll see on the dyno with wideband.

Do you think this is a good Idea? Yes/no?

Most kits that you can get have the FMU, but everyone says not to use it. Will it work?

The FMU will work fine, if you install everything properly. The people who have problems with FMUs shouldn't be working with a turbo car in the first place.

Just take your time, do it right and you should have no problems at the boost levels you want to run.

Thanks!

Is it even worth keeping the VAFC?

Now to look for a FMU, which one should I get? anyone better then the next? something around 10:1 or 12:1?

I would ditch out on the fmu idea!! No tuning capabilities really,. I did this on my h22a and I eventually opted for uberdata. Way more capabilities. The ecu I used was a p28 out of an automatic civic, but I had to switch out a jumper and it was converted to manual. The only other problem was that there was no controller for the secondary intake butterflies so I simply just removed the doors by unscrewing them and taking them out. I'm assuming that you could use an auto p28 ecu. This would still control VTEC, but you'd also need to get some bigger injectros.

i know a few people running vortech 12:1 fmu's with NO problems. my first choice would be vortech, but i've also heard good things about cartech.
