To do it right you have to get it dowled then get ur mains line honed.

yeah, instead of getting a griddle, you better off getting the whole rotating assembly balanced

Buy the aftermatket one, it will need less machining. I believe you still have to have the OG bearing cap holes enlargened to put some shuffle pins for alignment (like the head). If you use a factory girdle then you have to do that plus shve down material in certain areas where it touches.

Balancing is a must for Ls/Vtec.

well this is my plans for the motor, JE pistons 9.0:1, eagle rods, stock crank - yes i will be having it all balanced since it is only like 200$ I think I want to get a girdle and oil squirters. aftermarket girdles are suppost to be bolt on with no mods and they are only $200. I am unsure about the oil squirter setup as well - i know it cost about 150$ for the parts, but does it bolt on or where do I drill the holes? I will be useing a GSR oil, water pumps, timming bent and tensioner with a late 80's early 90's stock B16 head. I will be using a block guard - got one from KMS (off of ebay) and Im thinking about putting those Block posts in it to (drill in the middle of the block and insert threaded rod. to support the cylinders aswell. I plan to keep the stock bore but just hone it. I am unsure of what bearing to use and what headgasket. I plan to run around 15lbs safely (as long as I can get the proper fuel managment)

Any sugestions?

Oh yeah I currently have a B18B1 turbo in my 95 civic (but I have a spare B18B1 block i will be doing this to) I already have the head, oiling kit, dowel pins, block guard and some other little things...

I'm in pretty much the same situation.

Adding a B16 Head to my turbo B18

do I need the girdles ?

I have a built LS/vtec with 600+ hp I got the Golden eagle girdle kit. It came with the girdle, GSR windage tray, GSR oil pick up, ARP main studs and dowel pins for the alinement. It cost 495. On my old set-up with 320hp I didn't have a girdle and my car was as reliable as stock, never gave me one problem. It really depends on ur set-up. If its just a mild setup dont worry about it. If ur going all out I would get one.

A friend used GSR girdle and mains on his LS-VTEC. They didn't need align honed at all. He just had them checked and it all lined up fine. But for some I'm sure that you will. Nothing wrong with running one... but nothing really wrong without running one either.

Your choice.

You must line hone it. I ended up just picking up a GSR bottom end for 150$ and using that with everything I needed and not needing to line hone it.
