what do you guys think? will there really be much of a reliability factor with the LS VTEC? also what do you estamate the whp/torque differences with the 2. i will be using the B17 head.

planing on using ctr pistons for either of the 2 motors.

the LSVTEC should produce more power, and it can be perfectly reliable if you build it right

you can build the LSVTEC reliable, make sure the deck is flat, first off, replace the rear main while the motor is apart, use a new VTEC oil pump, use ARP head studs and re-torque them to spec at 500 miles. Break the motor in nicely, that is a big factor in its longevity.

use a block girdle, type-r or z-10 doesnt matter.

Go with the LsVtec. I'm sure you'll do it right and if so, reliability is no problem.

thanks guys, so i will use the oil pump from the B17 for the B18. how about the rods, should i get new ones or just have the LS rods shotpeened?

LS/vtec is nice. there has been some debate as to how well its reliable. truth is if you take care of an engine well enough and maintain it, not rag on it pass wut its cappable of then your alright. LSvtec would make more power then a b17. its has been proven to make close to 185 hp at the wheels properly maintained.

thanks for the help guys i know it will make more power a friend of mine has an LsVtec EK. i just dont know exactly what i need to put one together so any info is a great help.
