Default So I had a horrible oil leak, I've never seen anything like this.

Mind you I've only had my Integra a couple of months and have been trying to fix alot of problems on it. So sunday my car starts pouring oil, I jack it up and start working on it Monday. The oil pan was soaked and the motor was pretty dry, so I took the oil pan off, checked for cracks, holes and what not. I found nothing so I replaced the gasket with a new one and hoped for the best, still leaked. I decide to check and see if the filter is tight, so i took it off, and found that the filter was rusted out...........and cracked. Has anyone everseen anything like this before?

I'd hate to see the rest of your motor / car.

That thing looks like it's the original filter (ok, I know it's not blue...I'm being sarcastic).

I bought a car that was sitting so long, I found a family of mice in the cargo pocket next to the rear passenger seat (90 civic hatch). Sitting in the drive through and I heard scratching sounds. They were trapped and trying to get out. I liberated them.

that filter looks so old, your great grandpa probably did the last oil change.

The prior owner of my car changed it every 25,000 miles (i rebuilt the motor ) and it looked fine. That thing must have like 100,000 miles on it, lol.

Seriously, take the head off of your car and check out the pistons/cylinder walls to make sure they're not already dead.

At least take the valve cover off to see how bad the oil has sludged in the head.

maybe he just hosed it out everytime he changed the oil - that would explain the rust - you had it a couple months before you ever saw the oil filter?

haha... savior!!

and wow, that is the worst filter I have ever seen.. wonder what the actual story behind it is. Reminds me of my neighbors who never change the oil on anything. They change it on their cars every 18 months... and they never changed it on their lawn mower..... then it blew up and there was a big chunk of steel in my yard from it... haha

You can bet that filter is just a small piece of the previous owner's ignorance when it comes to cars. I hope you have money saved up for a rebuild when the time comes.

and that reminds me of my sister's '03 Teg (RSX, but i refuse to call it that.. dumbass americans ), checked her oil one day, barely enough to show up on the stick, so i tell her "put in 1 quart of oil, they sell it at gas stations now.. 1 quart.. you'll see numbers and letters on them, but don't worry, just match it with the same thing on this bright orange cap thing.. one quart.. got it? ok, one quart of what's written on the orange cap, don't forget..."

2 hours later after coming back from downtown and driving all day I can here her pistons scraping as she pull sin the driveway.....

"you remebered to put in that quart of oil right?"
"oh.. no they didn't have the right kind at that gas station"
"so you drove all day with no oil?"
"yeah.... is that bad?"

We live within a 3 minute walking distance of three different gas stations....just goes to show that people are always gonna be WEETODDID!!
