Default B20 VTEC...Direct bolt on swap?

My wife drives a 99 CR-V and is willing to do a block swap...but...
1. Will the two blocks directly swap?
2. Anything else important I should know if it does?
Thanks.

looking at his name, seems like he has a 99 civic Si. i think he meant if his B16 block will bolt on to his wife's B20 head.

CRVTEC (B20 VTEC) is a B20 block w/ a B16 or B18C head mounted on it.
i hope you didnt think it was the other way around.

I don't think it worth it. It should bolt up but I think the b20 head will need to get seriously milled or something because from what I know that b20 block got a bigger bore. What you can do is put in your motor into your wifes car (if the mounts match up), and just get a new b16 head for the b20.

This guy wants to swap blocks with his wife's CRV. i.e. give her his b16a block. That's about the worst idea I've heard considering your wife would get the shaft majorly.

Just take $700 and go buy a complete B20. Geez.

You wife obviously doesn't know what she is getting in return. Search for a b20 short block. It is rare but it is there.

She doesn't care about goin fast. She just drives from school to work. Power for her isn't a concern.

Exactly, but what happens when she doesn't have enough power to make it up a hill and rolls over poor defenseless school children!!

ha ha ha ha this is hilarious.... Dude I found a short block locally for $300... Just look around... Call up a junkyard or two... That CRV would be worth nothing... If you ever wanted to sell it, I really doubt you could, plus it's dangerous if she needs to get onto the freeway and she cant speed up to the proper speed...

Why is this topic so familiar?

Someone (might be you) posted this EXACT SAME topic a while back!

Bottom line:

Yes the B20 block will work with your VTEC head, but you need to do searches here about it.

Yes your B16A block will probably bolt into the CR-V, but you'll be ruining the **** out of that poor CR-V.

Your wife might not care about going fast, but she will care when she is at partail throttle and that shitty-*** non-VTEC 1.6L engine won't even pull that CR-v up a hill.

Just buy a B20 engine or shortblock and don't rape the wifey's ride.
