Holset turbos???
How can you tell the difference between the turbos? I want a Hx35 but i have heard of two different kinds and i don't what the difference is or how to tell them apart. Do they have a label on them with any kind of numbers that would tell you? any help is appreciated.
I'm pretty sure they all come with a tag plate on them.
I think you've heard of the HX35 and the HX35W. I don't know what the difference is but you should be able to distinguish between the two by the label.

Thanks Unsung EM1!

so which one is do i want and how hard is it to find an externally wastegated hx35? what vehicle does the hx35 external wastegate come on?
Most people just block off the internal wastegate. A simple piece of steel to hold it closed works... I have an HX30W that Viren modified in such a manner, Speed Phreak modified his HX35W in a similar manner, etc.
If you want to try to find a wastegateless turbine housing, because you are a bling stunna and like the clean look, then contact your local Holset dealer... http://www.holset.com will let you find your local dealer, if they are anything like Blundar's local dealer in OH then you can probably pick up the HX35 for $550 new with warranty. Dunno if that price holds for non-W units, though.

Viren, care to elaborate? I know a lot of ppl who want the HY35W due to it's smaller turbine housing.
blackmagicCRX, nope, I pretty much stick west in the state. I have a few friends in the Raleigh area, but I don't get to see them much. projektteg, from Jacksonville, is driving up this weekend... hope to have another carolinahondas.com meet in Asheville this summer, with a Deals Gap run the following day. I don't know how that will work out, my CRX is the furthest thing from a corner carver these days.

hy35w is 9cm2 housing which is ultra fast spool but no top end. the compressor cover as well has 90 elbow pointing in the totally oppositie direction you need your pipes .
