Default Searched no luck....Downpipe mounted wastegates?????

I need some input on this.... I have seen for instance on DSM's an external gate mounted off of the O2 housing. Is this method an accurate way of controlling exhaust flow? Beings that the wastegate is after the turbo?

My question is on a low boost setup, 6-8 psi is it better just to use an internally gated turbo, or could I get away with using a wastegate on the downpipe? (near the exhaust housing)

Any suggestions/comments? Thanks

It has been covered on here before, I would just answer you, but I don't have experience with this. search again. the outcome of the topic was that it would work, but find out from someone that uses it, not heresay just to be safe.
