Default wastegate

what exactly does the size of the wastegate control?(mm)- 35-38mm seems common, does that control the boost potential? i have searched, i just cant find the particular answers im looking for. thanks for the help.

Default Re: wastegate (H22Honda98)

that amount of exhaust gas bypassed to keep the turbo at a certain boost level.

if your waste gate is too small you'll have boost creep

if your waste gate is too large you will have an unneeded increase in spool time, if it's way too big you may not even be able to reach your desired boosted level.

basically when your waste gate opens it crease a hole in your exhaust system before the turbo to stop the turbo from spooling itself into oblivion.

if ya want more info google "how an external wastegate works"
