Default Internal waste gate question

On an internal waste gaste tubo would there be much to gain by dumping externally instead of inside the O2 housing? I'm assuming it would give the same type of performance increase that the external waste gate turbo set ups get.
Any thoughts?

There is NO performance increase from an external gate. Remember that wastegates only bleed off excess exhaust energy. The better the wastegate design, the less boost creep (overboost) you will experience. Running a dumptub from your O2 housing will make no difference.

from what i here is you get more hp from an external wg. mainly when you dump it into the atmosphere, or if you re enter it into the exhaust after 18 inches of the turbo. so if you can make you internal dump or re route if 18 inches after you are good to go!

No power gain is achieved with an ext. WG...Reason why is because you are venting the same amount of spent exhaust gas, just through a different part. As stated before, having an ext. WG will almost gaurantee there will be no spike in boost pressure...But it looks dope and sounds intimidating if vented into the atmosphere

"Running a dumptub from your O2 housing will make no difference."

You sure about that?

Dumping ANY wg to atm WILL make a difference, internal or external. It disrupts the exhaust flow, especially on internal wgs. Dumping your wg to atm in effect gives you a "larger", less restricitve exhaust because the exhaust isn't trying to handle the wg output on top of the turbine output.

Now if you had a huge exhaust to begin with (3"+), it would make less difference, but saying adding a dump tube makes NO difference is not accurate.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong here...

yup... if ya notice. his question asked if they were gains "if you dump the exhaust gas externally" ie w/g dump tube separate from exhuast. not if an external made a diff.

Default Exactly...

...that was my point.

YES, he WOULD see a difference dumping ANY WG to atmosphere, internal or external. But even moreso with the internal!

so, lemme get this right.. an external wastegate is more reliable as far as boost spiking is concerned?

well crap.. i would rather spend a little more on external and external manifold than have some damn spiking ruin my motor... sigh.. and the shopping list increases..

I wouldnt worry about external wastegates till you get into the t3/t4 turbo,if your using a t3 then the internal is much better and more acurate,it relaeases the pressure right at the best point by the turbine which is its whole purpose to releive the boost on the turbo to keep it from pushing more into the motor, but if your going t3/t4 then id say get the external, you will need alot more room too,for the dump tube.
