because the oil pumps are different
the pans have the same patterns, but the bolts where it goes to the oil pump vaires from D15 to D16 (my onw experience)

I have a Z6 pan on my 97 Y8. I had to dremel out two of the mounting holes a little bit near the crank pulley to make it fit flush. BUT IT DOES NOT JUST BOLT ON.

BTW, Y7 and Y8 blocks are basically identical, so it should work.

yea they don't fit exactly. Even with my y7 pan on my y8 i couldn't keep my flywheel cover on there.

Seems answered but I also know a d15b7 oil pan will not fit on to a d16y7.. I also thought about swapping the oil pickup but the sizes where they mount are different..

I know the d15b7 and d16z6 interchange so any motors the z6 wont work on the b7 wont either.
