Default D series guys

are the D series oil pans interchangable? just wondering because i have a spare D16z6 and a DX oilpan and that saves me time from taking the oil pan off to get it welded and tapped.
thanks

they are different as well, also a little more info, the d15 oil pans arent as deep and if you try to put them on your d16 it will cover the hole in the oil pickup and be very bad for your motor (only get around 30psi of oil pressure at 3k), i know this lol

damn you cliff, all you had to do was ask ME. you need to use a y8 pan on a y8. its that simple. the y8 is the only single cam (that matters) that has an aluminum pan and u cant swap to the steel pan. trust me, you want to use the y9 pan anyway it seals SOOO much better than the steel pans

I beg to differ. I had a hell of a time putting the Y8 oil pan gasket on my replacement Y8 pan (stupid insert design), so now I run a Y7 oil pan with the standard style layer gasket on my Y8 and it seals great.
