I'd like to find out what all distributors I can directly bolt onto my b18c. In the saearch, I discovered that I can run b16a or b18c dsitributors... but that about d-series ones.... will the fit?
My distributor needs replacing, and I want to know what all distributors will bolt on without modification. Will there by a problem with different number of teeth between any distributors?

rarely does anything swap between b series and d series. You won't be able to use a d series distributor. If you're engine is obd-1, you probably need a TD-44U dizzy.

What about the sensors inside?
I'm getting a code 9 (cylinder position sensor). Could I replace the sensor in my GSR distributor with one from a d16?

YES, you can do this.
As long as the B & D series distributors are of the same OBD type; you an swap the ignitor & coil between B & D series distributors respective to OBD type.

Ahh... interesting... I though all OBDI and OBDII distributors were internall interchangeable.
What about the CYP sensor... can I yank one out of, say, a y8 distributor and then put it into my OBDII gsr distributor? What about a z6 CYP?

For those interested:
I pulled out a CYP sensor from an OBDII d-series distributor and put int into my GSR distributor. This fixed the problem completely. The only change I had to make was to the pins on the CYP sensor that go into the harness plug. The pins were shorter on the d-series CYP sensor, so I cut them off and soldered on the ones from the GSR CYP.... problem solved !!
