distributor problems on d series engines
i was "told" that some d series engines have distributor issues around 100k miles. any truth to that?
i have a 93si d16z6 that just turned 102k. all other maintenance has been done. if there is any truth to the dizzy failing arounf 100k i'll swap that out too.

Not all of them do, but it isn't uncommon to have distributor problems.
The distributor bearing in my D16Z6 went bad at around 101,000 miles; it started making a constant squeaking/chirping sound. I replaced the distributor with a junkyard unit - no problems afterwards.

Re: (civic-4-ges)
very true. it's just a matter of time till something fails on a car. i don't see what would make anyone think that the honda distributor is any better/worse than any other distributor out there.

This is often true with automotive electrical parts. I had my ignition coil replaced after it **** the bed and left me stranded, and the new coil failed within 3 weeks and left me stranded again. Replaced it the second time and had no more problems.
