What tool should I get to torque down the main caps??
Ok, I'm ready to assemble my engine, I just want to her from the experienced people on this board, which torque wrench or torque reading device is good enough to use on rod bolts, main studs and head studs?? I have a brand new Craftsman 3/8 drive calibrated torque wrench but is that safe to use??
unless you have recently dropped or abused that torquewrench you should be good to go.
Also torque wrenches read more accurately when used in the middle of there range. So if you have to maxx out your wrench to get the torque you may want to invenst in a wrench with more capicity.
I personally perfer the type that click. Becuas the dial indicating and the ones with the needle are a pain in the *** to use.

The torque wrench you have is good for main studs and head studs, etc...
For rod rod bolts you should use a torque wrench and stretch gauge.
