I just recently put a B16 head on my friends 00 GS-R-He bent 6 valves but the car ran fine, Vtec worked and no oil being burnt for 2-3 months. Any way after doing the head swap we test drove the car everything worked fine.Vtec engaged and redline was normal. Now 2 days later car won't rev past 5k hits rev limit and at 4500k won't engage Vtec. I already checked the oil level and it was right at the second dot on the stick. But when I pulled the stick out there was a little smoke exiting the tube.
Any and All imput would be appreciated.

 

are there any CEL's?

 

sounds like the ecu is tripping... or the timing... check for some cells... and the timing...

 

Check the filter on the vtec noid..

The ecu is throwing code 22 - Vtec malfunction. When I switched the heads I did not replace the vtec filters or solenoids. I will try tonight and see what happens.

Try replacing the filter.. If you need my expertise just let me know..

 

Well Vtec pressure switch was bad-damn I have electronics but Vtec now works and the car pulls fairly hard.
