problems getting off oem springs
well i went to lower my car today and i couldnt get the ******* top nut off. i just kept twisting my allen wrenches. used pb blaster, and wd40. any other suggestions? i dont have air tools at home so is there any way out of the clouds and back to the road with my tegs height?
look jus put in the allen key and spin the nut with the wrench, much easier...once it budges spray some rust remover and the rest will be a pieace of cake
When u get 2 tha back tell me if getting the bolt that connects the strut to the axle was easy to get off bcuz i got fuked there....good luck

My top nuts were rusted solid. No matter how much pb we used, they still wouldnt come apart. There are two options from here. If you have a nut cutting tool, then try that. Or you can just grind off the top of the shocks, nuts and all like i did.

You sure you're using the right size allen key? Put the whole assembly on the floor and put the allen key in it, and have a friend stand on the assembly so that the allen key will hit the floor and can't go anymore, while you loosen with a wrench.
If it still won't budge, I would put it all back in the car and go somewhere that has air tools (if you don't have any) and get them to break those top nuts loose (not remove completely, just break them loose) then go back home and continue w/ the installation.

Thats what I did.. I remove all 4 complete strut, and brought it to ANY mechanic shop, and just let them blast out the center nut with an AIR gun.
They did it for free too..

You said nothing about using a wrench also, so you could have just had an allen key and were twisting the whole thing. And you're right I'm the noob here, you've only been a member for like 2 and a half months yet you have over 650 posts. Can you say post *****?
