cloged cat causing bad gas mileage?
could this happen? cuz lately i've seen some shitty numbers on my MPG.. 2 days ago, i put in about half a tank.. im down to half of that so 1/4 of a tank.. and im only at 70-80 miles.. shifting at 2.5-3k.. not gunning it or anything..
my cars a 91 integra (auto
) with 125,12X on the clock.. cars not burning any oil. my mods are intake and exhaust..
any other ideas as to what could be causing this? besides the cloged cat, if thats even an issue

should i go hi-flow cat? or oem? or test pipe (dont know that much about these.. not sure if there for turbo'd applications or all engine too)

A test pipe is basically a straight pipe that eliminates the cat. Imagine a pipe being there instead of your catalytic converter, and thats what you have. Can be on a stock car or a race car, doesnt matter.
Carsounds have similar flow characteristics to testpipes, so if youre an environmentalist or are worried about cops, just stick to a Carsound.
My cat was clogged when I was JRSCd and the difference was night and day when I got rid of it. Someone else posted up a huge loss with a clogged cat a while back, they dynod before and after.
Keep in mind as well, our gas guages are kind of tricky...somtimes Ill fill up and get 80 miles on the first half and 160 on the second half. Dont let that fool you.

thanx newgsrdriver.. i knew what it was and that it was illegal.. but didnt know if its mostly supposed to be used for FI cars or any type of car..
i guess i can go with a carsound hi-flow.. and stay safe. cops down here pull you over if u have aftermarket rims.. just because.. weird.. but oh well..
how much could one of these run me? and like tony c asked.. is it a DIY or would i need a muffler shop to do it? and how hard is it to loosen up the nuts and bolts on the cat? only cuz i know on older turbo'd cars.. there like melted on there because of the heat.. not sure if thats the same with a non-older turbo'd vehicle

i work over at Dublin GMC, and on one of our Yukon that was in the shop, they couldn't figure out why the engine was running so bad. So they replaced the engine under warrenty b/c it only had less than 20k miles. Only to get the same thing again once the new one was installed. Finally i am not sure what they tested, i think it was one of our senior techs that put out the suggestion to check the cat, and he was right. Shows how experience matters. All and all i say check your senser ( the O2) and then check the cat.

well if the o2 was out.. wouldnt the car run worse, then it already is? like overheating or something?

With Carsounds, you can either buy them bolt up from someone like SMSP, or buy a blank cat for $70 or whatever, take it to a muffler shop and have them weld the flanges and any extensions you need and call it a day.
As for the bolts, depending on when they were taken off if at all, it may be difficult, it may not. Sometimes you may even get lucky if the nuts work themselves into the flange...then all you have to do is loosen the bolt without putting opposite leverage on the nut.
Not anything to worry about. WD40, ratchet, wrench and a pipe for leverage and you can get them off without much issue.
As for the car overheating without an 02 sensor, that shouldnt happen.

yuo will know if ur cat is clogged by the smell of the exhaust...if it smells like sulfer...its definatly clogged...also by if the car kinda putts when u idle it. If it is clogged id just gut it if not...by a high flow cat.
