Rust in quater pannels
I had busted out all the rust in my quarter pannels and then re molded it to look new agian. But i ran out of money and didn't get it painted....big mistake becuase now the rust is coming back. Should I take it somewhere to have fixed? Or should i tack weld a piece of metal in there?
you mean you just knocked what rust you could off and bondo'd over it? if you're strapped for cash you might want to grind it all off and use some kind of rust inhibitor and let it sit forawhile before bondo'ing again.
Its either that or new quarter panels

If you know how or can get someone to due it for cheap, go ahead and weld a new piece of metal there. Thats what I did. Cant tell at all. If you are strapped for cash, sand it the best you can and go to your local paint shop and they have a rust protector. Spray it with that before you bondo again.
we didn't use actual bondo, it was called dyno or something, It has fiber glass in it. I had a buddy do it for me. He grinded it all down after we knocked all the rust out and then allpyed the stuff, waited for it to cure then sanded it down, we repeated that untill i had a fender again.

You could knock out the bondo (or whatever) and sand the rust off again. Definitely treat it with some kind of rust inhibitor like everyone else said. But put some kind of epoxy paint or sealer on there after you are done. Regular primer doesn't seal against water, thus allowing the bondo to soak up water and start rust all over again. Definitely get it painted this time. Also check to make sure that the sunroof drain tubes are clear and functioning properly if you have an Si. If the drain tubes are blocked, they can leak water inside the quarters and make them rust out.
The reason the hondas always rust there is because the seam sealer they uses absorbs moisture. If you can get all that crap out and PROPERLY remove and repair the metal it will not rust.
weld a new piece, its actually not as hard as you think. If you can tack weld, you can do this. Cut it out in a squarre, get your scrap metal, cut it almost in the same shape, tack weld it on there, sand down the weld, and cut it more to line up with the rest of the car. tack welding = easy ,

POR15 is good **** if you just want to either bondo/fiberglass it again definately use it FIRST and then go onto the bondo/fiberglass. Wont last forever but a hell of a lot longer than just sanding, priming then bondo/fiberglassing it. Oh and even though I said bondo or fiberglass I would definately recommend fiberglass over bondo, bondo absorbs moisture so if it isn't primed VERY well it will absorb than rust/crack within some time again.

i'm strongly anti-bondo ... just a sheet of metal probably wouldn't run you too much... and i'm sure you know at least one person who can weld half assed...
