put the car in nutral or first gear and give it gas slow till the rpm gauge starts bumping off your rev limiter than when you know what that is. i would say it would be ok to shift right befor you hit it.
also it is hard to answer ?'s about how long car last because they are all different

Not in neutral dude!!! You don't want those kind of RPMs with no load. Doesn't sound like this car has a rev limiter if it can hit 7,000. If it does have a limiter, bouncing off the rev limiter in second gear is fairly benign. 7,000 is already sounding high for that engine and if you keep hitting it you'll certainly be having problems.
Honda rev limiters are usually 100~300 rpm past indicated redline, so you don't want to be going past 6,500 rpms.

taking into account that the car is over a decade old, you should take it easy...not to say if it was any newer you should be playing around inthe 7k rpm zone, but ease off a little, and maybe itll be here for another decade...

When you start revving past your redline, your really not making any more power either.. Actually less.. Your better off shifting to the next gear to build speed on the rising power..

exactly! you need to look at where your powerband over your rpms and see where your hp and torque curve is at shift points and where your hp and torque will be when you shift into a higher gear...

i sold my previous car, a 1992 midnight blue accord coupe LX with over 204k miles, hard driver side door damage, crumpled hood, chipped paint, no antenna, leaking radiator fluid, for about $1500....your friend might be able to get more..

If it's constantly blowing white smoke, even just a bit, it most likely means water/coolant are getting into the combustion chamber, usually a bad head gasket. It could also be oil getting there, usually getting past the piston rings, this gives a bluish/gray smoke. Either way, these are pricey to repair.
