noob question: how to shift in an automatic 2008 tl
alright, this may sound like the noobiest question. So I know how to drive both a manual and an automatic but when It came to this 2008 tl I am stuck. You know how the 3rd gen TL has the tiptronic shifter where you can just manually downshift and upshift the car with the shift **** of course. So here is the question. You know how when you drive a manual car you will let go of the gas and engage the clutch and then shift into the next gear and then you hit the gas again right? so what I am wondering is when I put it into the "tiptronic" shiftmode and lets say I go from 1st to second, do I just keep my feet on the gas the whole time shifting from gear to gear, or do I have to let go of the gas, shift to the next gear and then hit the gas again? what I have been doing is hitting 1st gear all the way to 7k rpm and then letting go of the gas and then shifting to second and then hit the gas again. I want to know the proper way of driving this thing and any advice would be helpful. Thanks...
also I would like to ask if I have been letting go of the gas when I shift up and then hitting the gas again once i upshifter, did I do any damage doing this?

Re: noob question: how to shift in an automatic 2008 tl
u can keep ur foot on the gas and up shift. not sure about the 3rd gen tl but the 2nd gen tl/cl will up shift automatically out of 1st gear according to the throttle position, rpm and speed. u will do no damage letting off the gas or not.
