Default Anyone have Synchromesh NOT work for them?

Thanks to crxboy on this forum, I was able to get 3 bottles of Synchromesh MF oil. Well I changed the oil last weekend, and noticed absolutely no improvements from before.

Anyone experience this also?

Maybe my tranny is damaged too badly for it to be effective?

Thanks.

"fixed" my 1st and 3rd gear grind...for the time being. I was on MTF when I had the problems, and they are gone with the Synchromesh.

your damage could be worse then mine is though.

Have you put a good amount of mileage on?

I seem to remember a few people say that they had to "re-break" in their tranny for a few hundred miles before they noticed any differences.

Blah, spready the word, syncromesh is crap compared to other stuff on the market.

After 3000 kms after i put the syncromesh in my tranny felt absolutely horrid, grinding and not wanting to go into gear, this stuff is garbage.

Switched to redline MT-90 and have zero compalints about it at all, this stuff is great, smooth as can be. I highly reccomend this for the extra $1.00 per litre..

I used the non modified at first, and it felt just as good as the modified that Im using now. I didnt notice a difference between the two.

I'm very surprised to hear this. I had a third gear grind before I dropped in the synchromesh. It did take a few miles before it broke in and got better, but it definately did! I've always heard and believed that this is the stuff to go with. The problem with the Redline fluids is that they worjk incredibly for the first few thousand miles, and then it ends up worse than stock fluid over time.

You should maybe mention that your tranny was pulled apart to put in your jdm fd, reassembled and the Synchromesh was put in after that. Your tranny had a fair but of wear on it as well, according to Rich. This may have contributed to your negative experience with it? Also there was no FM in the Synchromesh either. I have had no problems with the stuff yet, but am tempted to try the FM, more for protection's sake.

Does anyone know or care to learn that the friction modified synchromesh actually shortens the life of your synchros? Instead of going on how it feels, you should go on some real life, fact evidence...

Really interesting, maybe it hard a hard previous life. All i really know that the redline did a miracle to my tranny, something that the syncromesh couldnt do.. Sigh..

I only put on 3000kms before i switched to MT90, maybe i didnt give the sycromesh enough time to see the full results of it.

There was a large debate on it on HT awhile back, and at TI as well.

Basicly it came down to that theoretically, it can and probably does increase some wear. However, those knowledgable on the subject said its not measureable, and the difference is so slight its doubtfully worth worrying about anyways. Especially considering the syncros are worn to begin with if you are getting grinds.

haha exact opposite for me. Redline felt like ISH, worse than the MTF. I didnt have any grinding problems at that point though so I dont know if the Redline would have helped or not.

I'm using Redline Lightweight shockproof gear oil and it owns in the tranny (very thick). Smooth as butter. However, in the winter time, it is a bit notchy until the car warms up. Maybe, I should run honda fluid in the winter

Thanks for the ideas guys. I believe the tranny had a hard life. In fact, I also believe that this is the car's 2nd tranny (came with 2nd new B18B5 from Honda)

So I don't know the whole story. The new motor has approximately 30,000ks on it, and I don't drive it hard often (can't anyways, grinds!)

I may try different oils...I have some MT-90. I suppose it won't hurt at this point as the synchromesh didn't do **** for my tranny.

search? i know it works b/c i went back to read about it after i forgot the reason behind why this friction mod stuff works well.

youre banging through gears in a transmission...."something" has to take the abuse.

all the thicker fluid does is cause more friction for the syncros...which in turn wears them more quickly.
