Bouncing off the rev?
i was watching the best motoring type r video and i noticed they bounce off the rev before they shift, is that for the full effect or something? i thought it would delay your timing of the quarter mile or time for the track
If you hit the limiter it will slow you down, sometimes you see it at the track thought because it can be faster. Depending on the track layout it can be faster to just leave it in gear and hit the limiter then to shift right before you brake for a turn.

The rev limiter is a protection from overreving your motor. If the protection damages the motor thens it's not really protection .So in theroy you should be able to bump the rev limter all day long and it is no worse than redlining your motor.
This is just theroy, so if you (or anyone else) blow up a motor while hittting the reve limter too bad.
BTW I have no quams with bouncing mine off the limiter.

Hitting the rev limiter in a stock car should not damage the motor. Just like making the ABS engaged won't damage your brake system. But of course it is better not to do it excessively.
Sometimes it is faster to leave it in gear and let it bounce a little, than to upshift then downshift again.
