Default Electrical Problem/Question

I previously had an amplifer/subwoofer set up on my EP3. A Zapco 1000w amp with one iDMax 12". Im sure of the exact power usage of the amp, but i believe i read that since the amp isnt not a class d, it is a class a/b for better sounding audio, it pulls around 120 amps? maybe? Well, this was on the stock battery and alternator, with 4 gauge power and ground wires. I believe this was the source of ECU problems, causing the car to die and not start by affecting the immobilizer system and wierd stuff happening. The car since the stereo removal has not had the problem. Do you guys think that the car was having these problems becuase of a voltage shortage? and could be fixed by a more powerful battery? I'd like to keep the stock alternator so i can charge at lower lower rpm. BUT, i could also add a 2nd battery and charge both batteries with the one stock alternator, right?

There are quite a few questions here, so thanks alot for anyone who takes the time to help me out here. I loved the great sound of this setup too much to get rid of so id really like to get it fixed.

Well, I'm not sure why you would have that problem because I have a rockford 2k watt amp for 2 infinity 12s. a kenwood excelon amp for my mids and highs, all on a stock battery and alternator. The only difference is I have a DC5s. But, that shouldn't make that big of a difference. What might have happened is that who ever hooked it up might have tapped into some wrong wires to turn your amp on. But you may be right as well. If your system drained the power too much and the ecu had little to no power then I could see thast happening. I say get a cap. or another battery in the back so you don't put a strain on your alternator anymore. It'll make your sub hit a little better too.

Im thinking about putting another battery of higher capicity in the spare tire well, in addition to the stock battery. I would then later install a capacitor at the same time i put another amp in the car.

By the way, do you know the load that ur amps are pulling. I just think that mine pulls a very high load because the amp isnt class D circuitry.

Not sure on the load. I am running a class D amp for my subs though. I believe my kenwood amp for my mid/highs is an A/B though. I do need to get a cap atleast. I think I'll try an extra battery first, it's cheaper and I can bump with my car turned off then.
