Default audio problems

Hi, I have a question and I would like to ask for your opinion and suggestion. I recently bought 2 12' alpine type r subs 300watts RMS each (1000watts max each). I connected to a 1000 watts max. Koiiler amp. I use 400watts max speaker wires. Ever since i hook the two up, my car battery have been dying. Before i bought the systems, my battery was fine. Now every 1-2 months, i have to recharge my battery. Could it be that my wires doesnt have enough power to handle my speakers, so its using my battery for assistance. I was just wondering if it because my system is too powerful for my amp and its using my car battery to help it or what?...i need advice...anything would help...thanks!

I say get a capacitor and if that doesnt work go for a yellow top to power your system, or maybe your current battery needs replacing, you know they die after a while and recharging them only helps in the shortrun.

Do not get a capacitor until you have addressed these things...

1. Upgrade your "Big 3" wires, which are the battery positive to the alternator positive, alternator to chassis ground, and negative battery to chassis ground. Most aftermarket grounding kits come with 8ga wire, and many people say that it's enough, but then again, those are the same people who don't run crazy electronics. Upgrade those wires to 4ga. Oh yeah, while you're at it, you might as well upgrade your other grounds... do a honda-tech search for "grounding kits."

2. If you still have a problem, upgrade your alternator to a high output one. Chances are that your alternator isn't recharging your battery fast enough, which is why your battery is draining all the time.

3. Change your battery to a deep cycle/starter battery. I have the Yellow Top Optima, and it can be drained to nothing and charge back up fully up to 300 or so times.

Looking at your setup, go through those things, and you should be fine because you're not running a massive system (I am.... muahahahaha). Theoretically, if you go through these 3 things, and you still have problems (like with dimming), then a cap would help.

If your battery is dying like that then you need an upgraded alternator.
Or your battery is dead as already mentioned

if you're wires were too skinny they'd melt. simple as that. what gauge is the wire you have now?

i'd say change the battery first, if that doesnt fix it check the alternator.

Batterys are *not* maitence free, I don't care what anyone says. Before you do ANYTHING, check the water in your battery.. It might be low, could be. If you don't know how to check it, PM me.

The wire would not make your battery die. Get some atleast 10ga speaker wire from the amp to the subs. Go to a stereo shop or home depot. Stay away from walmart.

REALLY, lets see you check the acid level in a optima battery. Or how about a stinger dry cell. All adding water does is dillute the acid. Your better of replacing the missing acid.
