DNX
I was in the local NAPA parts store today picking up some AMSOIL and a filter when i stumbled over a poster for DNX headers and catback systems. Just wondering if anyone has heard anything about DNX and how the exhaust systems/headers sound or perform
Just let me say, that if all you want is a cool sound of it, then don't bother spending all that money of a cat back exhaust. You can stick any fart can sounding muffler on your stock piping, and it will perform the exact same way that your stock muffler did. All you did was change the sound of it, which, if that's what you want, then just spend $50 on a muffler.
If you want horsepower, start thinking of how you are going to build the car. You need to match the correct exhaust piping diameter with the rest of your engine setup. A turbo'd vehicle will respond better to 2.5"-3.0" and above exhaust sizes, generally speaking.
If you're builing N/A, then you have to take into consideration, are you going to change compression ? Will you be buying cams ? If so, what kind of lift ? etc...etc..etc....
there is much more to bolting on a cat back and just "gaining" horsepower.

I've seen the DNX stuff, and though decently made, it won't perform better than any other run-of-the-mill header or exhaust. I think the primary demographic they're marketing to is ricers rather than someone who will take the time to determine what exhaust will perform best on their car. I wasn't impressed with the collector on the header either, it seemed very restrictive and I wasn't too fond of how the flows merged in with each other. There are certainly much better products on the market, and I'd venture to that many of the superior products on the market will cost about the same price.
