definitely possible, but definitely a nightmare. Installing it would require a lot of patience and time, and quite a bit of expertise with wiring. I don't think many people have attempted this swap, so you would probably be breaking new ground. More power to you man!

not 100% sure but i think that if you have an auto tranny now and switch out for a b18c auto tranny it will bolt up.. i know they do make automatic b18 and b16 trannys in jdm land
but they dont over here.. not a lot of people do it but im sure its not much harder then a manual tranny swap maybe just a few extra wires and stuff like that but it can be done

not sure if the newer EX's had the tranny modules.. tahts all you would need to kno.. and see if there a cut out on the tranny side frame.. you will need that also.. other then that , thats all you need
thanx to everybody that has helped me out. i decided i'm gonna go with the Automatic JDM B16A( because i'm just giong show). maybe i will get the B18C when i join the Air Force
again thanx to everyone that helped me out.

ok yeah...to be different whatever but there is no advantages to a auto trans. they are heavier. shift poorly. are harder and more expensive to maintain/upgrade.but yeah its a show car...go for it
Hi Guys
I have the same question to ask re a h22a w/- auto trans into an EG civic hatch (auto).
Whats the story with engine mounts? Is the auto trans different in shape and mount positions? Will some of the mounts available from HASports etc fit?
So many questions.........

people need to stop making it seem liek its as easy as just swaping a manual in.. its n ot.. you need to wire up a complete automatic transmision module.. its as hard as trying to wire up a h22 with a sport shifter in a car that doesn thave it...and also the frane needs to be cut out since the b series tranny are way bigger then the single cams... i been through it its a hassle
I have seen one driven around where i live. The guy had a 97 dx auto and he swapped it out for a gsr auto. I dont know exactly how he did it but i think a local import shop did it for him. Try goin to your nearest shop.
Cool. Thanks for the replies guys. From what I have read the auto trans are not a popular swap.
However in my case a manual is a hassle as this vehicle is on the road 10 to 12 hrs a day, in traffic, working as a document courier.
I will have to do some more reasearch and let you kmow what I come up with. The physical size of the Prelude auto should not be too diferent from the manual trans, but the mounts may be different shapes. Control of the trans should be as easy as wiring in th computer from the donor vehicle.
Will let you know!!!!
