engine/tranny swap need answer/confirmation
so the other day i emailed a shop asking about their engines and doing a swap on my mommies car, 4dr civic auto. and this is what they told me:
No one makes a bolt in kit for the H22 or the B18C into an automatic
Civic chassis. You would have to do cutting & welding on the frame of
the vehicle to make it work.
kinda hard to believe since i've seen many cars with both of these engines
swapped. it wont fit into an automatic civic chassis? wtf, why would an auto
chassis and a manual chassis be any different? i thought honda cuts down on
manufacturing costs by using same parts for similar car (dx,lx,ex,hx,si)
can anyone give me a feed back on this? i know that there are different motor
mounts you can buy to get this bad boys in.

Re: engine/tranny swap need answer/confirmation (coptzer)
thanks for the reply but no.
its cheaper for me to get an engine swap than trading in the car. if i trade in the
car i will be losing around 5 grand + how much the new car will cost which is not worth it.
anyone who is SMART with a lot of KNOWLEDGE please input.
thanks

the upper tranny mount on the frame rail is different. sits at a different angle. if you do a h22 you take that mount off anyway so it doesnt matter.b series you will have to replace it with one from a 5 speed. drill out the spot welds and remove, then weld on the new one.
