precision sc61 too big?
Hey all, got a GSR engine with 9 to 1 je pistons...81mm , Eagle H beam rods and blockguard, 550 injectors and ready to go turbo. Found a good deal on a SC61 precision turbo. Has an upgraded T04 S compressor cover which has a 4 inch inlet with 2.5 inch outlet compared to the regular 3-inch inlet and 2-inch outlet. Would this turbo be too big for my gsr and take too long to spool up? Any suggestions on what to change for my setup? Thanks
Spool time would be pretty laggy but after it starts power will be great depending on how much hp you plan to make. What kinda power do you plan to make.
i am planning on getting a sc61 too.......you will be fine at 12-15lbs of boost i think 350 is achievible easily since the turbo supports much more then that....
how much are you getting your sc61 for.......
i want a lovefab equal length SST manifold with a sc61
is it too big?
its never big enough hahahaha

also, still gotta buy a turbo manifold. will a custom or no name brand one work or is there really a diff between them and the brand name ones such as revhard or inlinepro or revmax?
SC61 T350 76 Trim w/ a TO4E Compressor housing would probably be good for that setup b/c that is what Precision recommended to me with similar hp goals, but being a T04 w/ the S comp housing, that will probably be too big.
I would agree that the turbo is big for that goal but for 500 you can spare the extra lag it will produce. And everyone knows as I that you have a goal and once you reach it you want more. So I do believe the turbo is the right choice and sleeving is great to have. You can never hand enough security when it comes to building an engine. I've seen engine go with less than 200 hp.

Word. For $500 bucks pick it up, resell it and go for a T3 and Hondata.

the S housing wont effect spool time that much really.
you should hit full boost at about 5000 rpm(with a .63 a/r)
you should start seeing some boost by 3500 rpm .
if you dont mind that, buy it and use it..
howmuch is a "good deal"
from arturbo its like 750 us NEW for any of the precision sc series.
so like 1100 cad (with shipping).
