Default Deciding which block

Hey whats up guys. I wanted to get a Type R motor but I don't have $4K to spend. What I was thinking about was to make a poor man's Type R, a GSR block and slap on a B16A head. The head has CTR cams and ITR valvetrain and race port polish. I figure my head flows probably just as good as a Type R head. I wanted to put CTR pistons also. What are the hp and torque gains on this swap? Do you guys think that's worth it? Or do you think I should just save up and get a Type R motor? Thanks in advance.

If you own an Si... you should be able to sell your b16a2 for a decent amount of change which might get you to the b18cr-spec.

but with what you just said .. i think you would be faster than a stock b18c-rspec.

A good swap out is the CTR cams... the CTR pistons will raise your compression...

I think with some dyno tuning you'ld be sitting on a good set up.

I thought about the B20 block but how reliable is it? I know that B16A motor is a good platform to start but I want torque. I drive a coupe and B16A is too weak for a coupe, maybe for a HB its a good motor. It would have been better if 99-00 Civic Si came with a B18.
