Default compression test results

92 Prelude SI 4ws, H23a engine. Cars burns oil bad, inside exhaust coated with oil.Compression test results
1-230
2-230
3-220
4-230
Is compression good and if so whats wrong with engine? Engine has 98,000 miles

Those numbers seem damn high for an H23. Are you sure you read it right? not 130 and 120??

Did compression test twice on each cylinder. Readings are right
1-230
2-230
3-220
4-230

I'd do it wither another tester, since even my H22 doesn't have compression numbers as high as that.

Agreed, those numbers are pretty damn high, my JDM H22A got a best of 225 and that is with the stock 10.6:1 compression.

It's probably reading that high do to the carbon buildup.

Would anything other than carbon buildup cause high compression? Just went out and did another compression test and the #.s came out the same.

the reason why the numbers are high is due to one that the carbon and oil deposits built up on the pistons. but mainly due to the amount of wet oil in the cylinders. wet oil, aka a wet compression test will drastically change the compression upwards to 30 psi.

a wet compression test is when you put oil intentially into the cylinders on a car with low compression. if the compression raises then you know that the rings are bad.

my point exactly. the amount of oil in his cylinders will increase the compression.
