Default A Q for you AEM EMS owners

I was wondering if there is much to gain on a stock s2000 with the ems? I wanna try to keep my car as physically stock as possible but wouldn't mind gaining a few ponies here and there. Also, I do plan on getting an exhaust and intake in the future. So maybe getting the EMS now would be a good idea? Thanks.

that was a rough tune, next tuning session will be tuning a carbon intake manifold. I'll do a write up when this is all said and done. My goal in tuning this engine is to increase midrange and keep the top end where it's at. Sorta of what you see IVTEC doing, bumping up midrange torque.

Thats a very impressive gain with just bolt ons. Absolutely amazing if you ask me. Strangely, i see alot of people with I/H/E put out the same numbers as they did in stock form but with a little bit more mid range. Its discouraging to see those kind of results after putting 3000 dollars worth of bolt ons into ones car. Did you get a baseline of your car before you tuned it with the EMS? If so, do you mind me asking how much power you made and how the overall power curve looked when compared to the tuned engine? And lastly, who sells the AEM EMS for a fair price?

Is vapor the only user on this forum that uses the aem ems to tune his N/A s2k? Not to discredit vapor, but it would be reassuring to see people take the same route and also get the same results as he did.

there are others in the same boat as I but they are not on the web. engine management is where this car can see gains from increasing the output of the engine. You'll see gains alone from just tuning a stock engine with the EMS. I do have a baseline of the car ~205whp, and last tuning put out ~ 240whp. The engine sounds different when tuned, and clearly sounds healthier running a tad bit leaner with altered ignition maps. I will need to get the maps from my tuner as I didn't care to get them at the time since tuning wasn't complete and more parts were going to be tuned. Basically vtec was lowered and a/f was leaned out.

Awesome. Are you still running on 91 pump gas with the leaner air/fuel ratio? Is there a good tuner in SoCal that knows how to tune the ems?

yep, it runs on 91 but for hot humid weather, it's always wise to run higher octane, even on a stock ecu setup.

I was just about to ask about Church Automotiving testing! He tuned my integra twice with Hondata and i was very pleased with the results. Looks like i'll be shooting him an email soon. Thanks for the info guys.
