top caliper bolt is stripped!!
So yesterday I was about to do my brakes on my rear disc brake conversion that I had just installed on my crx, when I noticed that the top bolt to take the caliper off was stripped! I tried banging a smaller socket to grip the bolt but that wasn't helping. I also tried using vice grips to grasp it but it only made it worse. SO I finally left it alone, took the bottom one out and just pulled the caliper up enough to allow me to replace the brake pads. Have any of you had this problem before, if so what did you do? Thanks.
I stop tightening the bolt and turn it the other way.
Craftsman has those bolt out things. Maybe one of those? They're supposed to lock onto the flats of the bolt head rather than chew at the rounded corners.

Hmmm, I'll have to drop by Sears tomorrow and check it out.

I have them and they work great. make sure to get it on dead center of the bolt. I use a spring loaded center punch so the drill bit won't walk

To save yourself the hassle of going to Sears. Use a Dremmel Fiber bit, put a deep slash in the top. Douse the bolt with liquid wrench. Then smack the **** out of it with a flat head impact wrench. That might work too! Just don't miss and crush your hand.
