searched....rear hatch not working
1998 GS-R.
Problem: Rear hatch won't open via switch when doors are unlocked. It will work though when the key is used on the hatch.
Remedy: Here is what I have done so far. Replaced actuator for the hatch.
Problem is still there. It seems like it isn't recognizing that the door are unlocked.
Has anyone had this problem and remedied it? What lines would I run a continuity test between to be sure the actuator is receiving a signal?
Thanx guys
EDIT: Problem appears to be in the switch. Anyone have any experience with this? Come on guys I know I am not the only one that has had this problem.
as a side note. I did search this and I found one thread with a bunch of BS answers. So maybe I can get some intelligent ones here.

From what I understand of your question yes the 98 integras have a different latch system than the 94-97? integras. There is no hatch release up front, only at the rear in the hatch itself.

Mine does'nt work either, but Im pretty sure I have a bad actuator cuz I can hear the relay click when i pull the switch. I have'nt done much more investigating other than that. I may look at it tomorrow and let you know if I find anything else. BTW, wanna sell me that extra actuator if I need it?
Yeah I need to know the answer to this problem as well because my 98 only works like 1 out of every 10-20 times I usually just use the key and don't even bother trying to hope it will work. But like you said you can hear the click of it but it just doesn't release the locking mechanism.

Well if you hear a click it is most likely the actuator. If you don't hear click it is most likely the switch. More on this when I get the switch though.

Hmm. I haven't seen a relay back there. I have seen an actuator though. I do tend to miss stuff like that though.

I have a similar problem, I hear something clicking when I pull the switch but the hatch won't come up. The only way i can open it is to stick the key in turn it, and jiggle the switch furiously.
Have friends who work at both Honda and Acura. They say the same thing I say. Looking for a swicth.

Sounds like the actuator bro.

i kinda have the same problem, but mine does not lock?!
when i try to close the hatch up, it just jumps back up, as if something was in the way. if i hit the switch 4or5 times something comes loose, then it is able to lock?..
anyone have that problem?

That's a new one. I would say maybe the locking mechanism is falling back and closing while the hatch is up? Just a guess.

seems like i'm also having this problem. how involved is it in getting back there to the actuator and getting it fixed? should i buy the actuator from Acura right now and then start the work?

sure are bumping alot of old threads lately.
I thought search was disabled right now....
Anyway getting to the actuator should be as simple as pulling the plastic trim piece out of the back side of the cargo area.
