Default WHat should I do with my Y8 "Please be critical"

I have a d16y8 that I am wanting to boost up to like 200 WHP and I am trying to find out what kind of upgrades I need to do to my motor to make this happen. I am wondering is the head and valve train good up to 200 or do I need to get a cam and valve train that is better. Also this is a daily driver so what kind of pistons and compression ratio do I need. I have a guy trying to sell me a T25 for 40 dollars so this is what sparked this idea. Also will I need an intercooler. How many HP will my stock crank hold up to or do I need a better one. Pretty much what internals do I need to upgrade to get 200 on a daily driven car. Also what kind of headaches will I run into wikth a T25 or should I buy a different one. Thanks

James

You do not need to do any motor work to support 200whp in a D series. First step is to make sure you have all your general maintenence done. This includes water pump, timing belt, thermostat, etc. Then grab up a turbo kit with an intercooler, bov, and good fuel management. Most daily driver sized turbos on the D series put out 200whp at around 10 pounds, but it will vary on the size of the turbo.

leave your motor stock and buy a turbo kit, new or used for about a grand. I have a greddy turbo kit, and I love it. Got it used for 900 bucks. Shop around.

You might wish you had a bigger turbo tho.

A6 is a good block too, if you use the A6 pistons you may want to look into some engine management for some good tuning though. A6 pistons will give you higher compression than the Z6 or Y8.
