Depends how many subs you got? What are the ohm rating on the voice coils?
What kind of amp also?

it's a 800 watt speaker, and the voice coils are 4 ohm i believe.

the amp is a sony mx-2100gtx
-200 watts x 2 (4ohms)
-300 watts x 2 (2 ohms)
-600 watts (bridged @ 4 ohms)

If you just have one speaker then wire it parallel to get a 2 ohm load. Most amps are 2 ohm stable.

You can do that as long as the amp is stable at 2 Ohm when bridged. Read the manual.

In your setup, you want to run it in series. connect the (-) of the first vc to the (+) of the other, the connect the other terminals to the amp. This will give you an 8 ohm load mono, which is equivalent to 4 ohms stereo. Your amp is stable only to 4 ohms mono (bridged). If you connected them in series (+) to (+), (-) to (-), you'll have a 2 ohm load andn your amp will shut off.

We just got some Type Rs and I had to figure out how to wire a pair. Alpine has a ton of info on their site on how to do it.
