Default Help - b16 valve springs in a b18b

I am finally back to installing some left over b16 valve springs in my gf's LS and we came into a problem (or two). (note I had previously been told this would work)

Problem 1:
-The LS keepers are larger that the b16 keepers and dont fit into the b16 retainers
-New keepers are $4.12 each and I need 32 of them

Problem 2:
-LS keepers are physically smaller in diameter than b16 keepers plus they don't have a proper second step for the inner springs (they are somewhat tapered on the step face

Suggestions? I had installed ITR valve springs in my civic (LS engine as well) but before had installed the engine in my hatch I got a really good deal on a full crower setup so I never ran the engine on those springs, I had used the ls retainers at that time without really examining them.

I am also a little concerned with the gap between the side of the spring and the wall of the head but it looks like it will clear. (checked helms, it's within tolerance)

I have read all other posts on here to try and find any solutions but all I can find is that they arn't compatable, however like I said, they seem to be within size tolerance... I did notice that people have tried putting b16a inner springs into the b18b springs and was wondering about doing this on both the intake and exhaust but will that make the exhaust side too stiff in comparison to the intake? any further help on fixing this little hiccup would be greatly appreciated.

YEs, the vtec keepers and the non vtec keepers are different... you need a new set of keepers.

Problem 2... I'm assuming that you're actually talking about the retainers. if you know a good machine shop, I bet they can machine downa flat surface to hold the inner valve spring, personally, I wouldnt do it... just find a set of B16 retainers. If worse comes to worse, I have a few sets of B16 retainers...

I have the B16 retainers too but the problem was with the keepers... I was wondering about using the LS retainers and keepers on the b16 springs because of the extrordinary cost of the B16 keepers.

Has anyone tried using (not installing but actually running) B16 inner springs with B18b outer springs? Also will b16 inner springs on the B18b exhaust side be too stiff?

I found the answer to my own question finally. There was one thread with the answer to this question, and the answer is no.
Guess I have to take them out, oh well The car did start, run pretty smooth and all but it had no power under load and without it.
