Default LS or GSR

Alright, i do not have my talon no more and i dont want to go back to dsm. I have heard many great things about the gsr with its vtec. and then again i have heard many good things about a turbo ls. i know a fair share about honda motors, but not as much as i did about dsm so i am asking you all to please help me and give me some advice.

I know that if i dont plan on boosting get the gsr, but i think after a year or so of having it, i will more than likly boost it. An ls turbo would have more low end torque than a boosted gsr. but 1st question.. would the turbo + vtec come back at the end and beat an ls turbo at a 1/4? (both with around the same mods and equally good drivers)

Next questions is.. just basially give me your thoughts and tell me what you all think i should or should not do. thx a lot, it will really help.

do a search. this is a topic covered so whoredly that im too lazy to answer you in detail. haha but one thing is for sure.. the gsr motor has more hp to the wheels... so obviously its going to have an advantage over the ls. BUT... the ls will handle more boost safely... therefore, it wil compensate for the extra horsepower a gsr motor puts out. it all depends on a variety of factors... and whether you tune your setup to get the most power out of it at the psi you boost at. ive spanked 3 out of 5 gsr turbos ive raced at the same boost levels. maybe im just a better driver. who knows.

Type R > GSR > LS/GS/RS/SE

You do the math.

Does not matter what car you chose as long as you build it right.

GSR because if you decide to not go turbo. Then, you'll still have a shot at some good power out of the factory. With VTEC you give yourself a good set of potential with aftermarket parts.

Going turbo. I think its a 50-50 here. Its what you want. I am boosting my GSR and never even thought about buying an LS. I've wanted a GSR all along so thats why I made my decision. Others may have tooken the LS because it is cheaper, etc. There are a ton of reasons to pick either one. Basically its just deciding what you want.

Personally I say GSR. But your not losing much if anything if you go with the LS and turbo it down the road.

I say buy an engine-less shell, and a K20.

VTEC != (does not potential EXCEPT for the fact that there is a lot more aftermarket for it.

VTEC is good for 2 things Racing where you go below 4500 in first gear (maybe autocross?)

and Fuel economy

Other than that you should always be on the big lobe anyway so you might as well not have vtec

Turbos are fun, but over rated

So basically its like this... if you like/want all motor, go GSR

if you like/want turbo, go LS

Yeah, ive wanted the GSR for a while because the motor is built well. but if i end up do boostn it. a ls woudl be best bet. lower copression and the added torque with it tuned right would be dominent. but were i live. the fact of having a 'gsr' is like awesome cuz they are hard to find in Mid-Missouri. ive been told by many of ppl, as long as u build it right, it dont matter. i know that much but i just want to get more in depth and aint got a lot of time before i need to get a new vehicle. either gsr or ls. i would have the money for turbo, its just if i wil have time or if soemthing weird happens and i got to spend that money on more important stuff. i dont want to be stuck wtih a nonturbo ls. so i think the gsr woudl be best bet. i could always build up the internals and get lower compression to get almost like the ls low end torque then the crazy vtec + turbo topend = hella pull thx for your advice ppl.. its saving me a lot of time on trying to read threw hundreds of threads and different sites trying to figure out what i need. cuz like 2 more weeks and its like insurance stuff is due and my dad wants me to get soemthing before then. so thx again.
