problem with thermostat
i just had my water pump fix and new timing belt changed and thermostat. WHenever i drive around and the engine is hot the thermostat would rise up to the top and goes up and down. SInce then my car would crank and sometimes would be flooded with gas. My friend said i might have a bad tw sensor. This is a 94 honda accord with 167k miles on it. Any help would be appreciated.
? do your fan's come on? does it do it with the ac on or off? u might have a defective thermostat like your thinking. the best thing to do would get a new one and see if it still does it. its the cheapest way out. then i would presurerize the cooling system to see if you have leaks . if all is good. you had a lot of air in the cooling system and therefor you have an air pocket causeing the problem. good luck i hope you get it st8.
i have the same problem.. i changed the thermostat and did the water pump a while ago ....so im thinkin its the fan relay or fan switch in the block... the fan wont come on unless you turn on the a/c as well... and then it will bring the temp down and shut off... if u figure it out before i do.. please pm me
thanks.
thanks.

never had a problem with it being flooded... but yeah mine is bled.... on or around the t-stat housing there's a lil bleeder valve... u keep that cracked while u fill your coolant and fill it till coolant starts to bubble out... but check a manual for better instructions

i asked if you had replaced the TW SENSOR not the thermostat....
TW/thermal sensor they are 34 bucks, mounts in the bottom of the radiator, tells the pcm what temp. the engine coolant is. when they go out of spec your pcm could think the engine coolant is 30 deg F instead of 200 deg F thus causing extreme problems at start up and driveability problems....

Just had my timing belt, water pump, etc... and i think the only thing that you might not have replaced is #14 on the pic... its labled as Sensor (A-93) It is like a fan sensor switch that tells the fan for the radiator when to come on... I heard they go bad after a while... so just had my changed at the same time.
