Well I am planning to turbo my '01 GSR. Piecing it together. Planning on using a Garrett T3/T04e 57 trim .63AR. I don't really know what I am/should do to get it safely up and running after the install. I plan to go Hondata, but won't get it tuned for 1-3 months after the install so I guess I should get an FMU to run until then???
Anyway I have been searching about injectors a little and found some decent info, but its mostly installs. So I need some advice on what injectors would be good for my set up. I will be on stock internals, running like 7-8psi, and would like to see 300whp or close after tunning. I have been looking at 440s. But I would like to be more informed before making a purchase.
What size do you recomend?
Does it matter that I am OBD2 but will swap to OBD1 later to run Hondata?
Is saturated what I want?
Should I stick to a specific brand? I know RC is good but I am eyeing a set of accel 440s.
Thanks for the help. JFoster

Saturated injectors are pretty much plug and play. Meaning you wont need to wire in a resistor box as that is the type of injectors our car uses stock. However you will have to solder in new connectors to fit the new injectors (OBD-1 style).
If your planning to run some serious engine management like Hondata or AEM, theres no reason why you cant go big. I have saturated 550s and now RC makes 650, and 750cc saturated injectors.
I recomend that you dont even mess with the FMU, just get it tuned right away. Tuning only costs $300-500.

Alright, 550s. Would there be a big difference between precision and RC? or Accel?
Still got alot of questions.
Edit - I am wanting to wait to have it tuned by Mase
So could I make it run with the 550s? What should I do until I get it tuned? Run an FMU? AFC? Stock injectors at like 5 psi? I DON'T want to hurt it, but I need it to run before I can get it tuned. Even if I didn't go to Mase the nearest tuner is a long drive. And I don't have a trailer.

If you do not want to hurt it and you cannot tune it yourself don't go ghetto and waste all that money you are spending by destroying a motor. This is not to say that you can't go ghetto and get away with it because I sure did for a long time. Second have someone who is knowledgable help you get a simple base tune, then drive it to the tuners, there is no reason you can't get a simple tune that won't be safe.

Yeah, thats what I want something to get me by until I can get it pro tuned. And yes, I do not want to mess anything up. But it has to be able to drive around for awhile and all the way to the tuner(all the while being gentle) without hurting my motor, or not running for ****. So are you saying get the Hondata now with a simple/safe base map and run that? I don't know any other tuner guys around here, I am in MO. So the closest tuner is like a 5 hour drive. I don't have any friends that could lend a hand in this sort of thing. Thanks for the advice, I need it.

Oh, there are plenty "tuners" on H-T, plenty of them have adequate skills to set you up with a base tune that would be safe enough to drive around on. Personally I have no experience with Hondata. My car was tuned with Uberdata, KPT4321 set me up with a base tune and then helped me tune it from there, I shouldn't say helped, he tuned it for me. Unfortunately he has never used Hondata, but if you asked around I bet several people have some sort of base tune file even that will allow you to get to a pro. Good luck.

That sounds simple and safe. Would that let the turbo spool too fast though, like leaving a charge pipe off?

Alright, thanks. I guess thats what I will do. Then when I get to the tuner I will just put the spring back, install the injectors, and plug the hondata in.
