Default 99 d16y7 into 96 civic ex

alright, so i went to the machanic today, and he told me they would be able to put the d16y7 into my 96 civic ex, but it wouldnt run because the wiring is to different, even though i have the 99 d16y7 wiring harness and ecu. somebody tell me something

It will run, but if you use te same engine harness and ECU as your Y8, you will get a few codes thrown. The IACV is different from Y7 to y8, actually the Y7 has a 3 pin connetor, the y8 has a 2 pin. The y8 has a knock sensor, y7 does not, and of course your two vtec selenoid connections.

You will need a 96-98 DX/CX harness and ECU.

I think the OBDII in the ecu in a 96-98 differ from the 97-00 version

DO I USE THE Y8 ENGINE MOUNTS, OR THE Y7 ENGINE MOUNTS, WHEN IM PUTTING IT IN MY 96 CIVIC?
