Popping sound from exhaust when cranking
My car is not starting...like i said in earlier post i do have spark, compression, fuel pressure, the fuel pump is engaging, and i peeked in the oil cap hole while my friend was cranking the car and everything was moving and working properly!! When i crank the car over there is a popping sound every couple of seconds coming from the exhaust...ignition timing???
I do need to check the firing order...if it is that how do i correct the problem??? I do i check to see if it is firing in the correct order??

put the motor at TDC. Take off the distributor cap. Look at the rotor button, where it points is number one cylinder. Then 1342 clockwise.

You can't tell which is which without seeing the cams. It might be #1 or it might be #4...
What year engine/car do you have? If it's an 88-91 and the plug wires are in the right order, check the rotor. On the 88-91 dist. the rotor can be installed 180 degrees off b/c that screw hole goes all the way through the shaft.
