Default Tranny problems!

I have a 95 LS with 156k

I just replaced my driver side axle last night...since I heard a popping noise whenever I let off the throttle or went around a turn..I test drove the car last night and it was fine...

This morning on my way to work all of a sudden I lost all power to my wheels in 5th gear, I tried every other gear, but still no power to the wheels. When I finally stop the car, I try reverse...no luck. So, I jack the car up and its leaking gear oil. What is everyone's ideas?

I am towing the car tonight afterwork to take a better look. The car only drove for about 15 min total after the axle change.

ok, it shouldn't be just an axle coming out...what would explain the gear oil...

I hope its not a hole/crack in the case....it might be...

I'll fill everyone in after we inspect her tonight

If the axle was not popped all of the way in it can pop out and cause what you are discribing, jack the car up and look at the inner joint if it is out at all just pop it in all of the way, you should not be able to pull it back out, if you can the litlle spring clip on the inner joint may be bad and will need to be replaced. When the inner c/v joint popps out of the trans it will leak gear oil.

yup... for some reason the passenger axle decided it didnt want to live in the tranny anymore... so it popped out enough to dissengage it from the diff and spray tranny fluid everywhere
