Problem: can't remove headlight housing to replace bulb
I need to change a bad bulb on my mom's 96 accord. How do you get the friggin plastic housing off so you can remove the bulb? I looks like you just have to twist it off, but the darn thing won't move

It can be a real bitch to turn it. However, it does turn. You might have to remove some stuff from in front of the light so you can get a good grip. I have also had to get a socket extension to push on it with from the side.
although i'm quite certain WD-40 would work, however, i'm pretty certain your mechanic wouldn't be happy with your decision...
Those things are a bitch to unlock sometimes. What should be a 60 second job turns into half an hour of sweating, swearing, bruising, and bleeding.
unplug the wire from the bulb first then apply pressure tp the tab on the bottom of the black holding clip

hahahahaa... bruising and bleeding is right! i got so fed up w/ my housing cap i broke it off w/ a flathead screwdriver

Yup, so did I, passenger side low beam. Ended up having to replace the entire headlight housing 'cause the bulb wouldn't stay in there. I should've just gotten the JDM one-piece units.
twist very very hard counter-clockwise. the right headlight is pretty easy to get to but the left is a b****. for the left, i ended removing the battery and that black flappy thingy next to the headlight housing. my friend that tried to remove his bulb ended up cutting his hand because he twisted the bulb instead of the housing around it.. good luck.
don't tell me, your putting in white riceboy lights...

Hey everyone, I did finally get it off by first spraying it w/ WD-40 (thanks to my pops, who did it that night). After letting it sit for a fewminutes, it twisted right off. Dunreit was on the money.
Thanks for the posts folks.

back from the dead.. i ended up tapping with flat screw driver + hammer on edges of housing to make it unlock/lock.. worked well and easy.
