Don't buy it. It's not worth the risk and it promotes thieves to steal when people buy stolen goods from them. Tell the thieve to **** off and call the cops.

common sense... if someone is selling you a b16a2 from a 99-00 Si with 30k miles for $1250 then it's probably stolen or fucked up....

common sense is your best friend...

also knowing the common price on parts/engines is also key when looking out for that deal that is just too good to be true...

a good key of advice when buying any part from someone other than a business is to get a bill of sale. this is a simple had writte statement between you and the buyer concerning the part in question. example, you buy the motor. be sure to write down any block codes, serial, vin #'s, etc. along with the seller's conatct info. have both you and the seller sign it. that way, if anything comes up, you can show the official/cop who you bought it from. you won't get to keep the part/motor, but at least you're not in trouble.

I wouldn't say you are out of the woods. There is still a real chance that you could go to jail for this. This sounds like a bad episode from "Dumb Criminals" in the making......

"But officer, even though he only wanted $100 for the B18C5 swap kit, I still didn't think it was hot because he signed this napkin as a receipt....see...here is the serial number off the stolen....er...I mean legitimate engine block.......so it must be legal right?..........]

Make it idiot proof and the world will build a better idiot...........

Every time I buy or sell an engine, I draw up a bill of sale. It's smart and safe.
