Default Are there any gains from using a PG7 ecu on my d15b2/y7 mini-me?

Would this work well, or too much fuel? I have a pm6 from a 91 civic Ex running my motor at this moment, everything seems good so far. Power increase was dramatic. More than I expected, however, I heard that the pg7 has a higher redline and more aggressive fuel and timing maps. Now as far as I know, the redline is more to protect the valvetrain than the bottom end correct? With the y7 head I should be able to take it up past the 6500 rpm redline. Would I benefit from the few extra 100 rpms and extra fuel? TIA

Depends. Both arent VTEC ecus. How is your VTEC kicking in?

I don't have vtec. It's a d16y7 head. I know, im doing something a little different. This set-up is actually pretty good compared to what I have heard otherwise. I was just curious what would the pg7 do in terms of power? I was considering getting a y8 intake manifold and a Teg TB. Was just wondering will I be ok with the extra airflow with the pm6 or should I move over to the pg7? My engine is just a high compression non vtec sohc. I dont want to lean out and detonate. Any ideas guys?

I think you should stick with the one u already have.

I think the pg7 has higher red line due to the fact there a dohc motor.

I could be wrong tho.

As far as the y8/tb swap im going to try the same thing, but im boring out my t/b to like 61mm.So let us know how it gos.

So i take it u notice a Huge gain in the mpfi swap?

Yes I did. Made a big difference. I really think the head swap made the most though. I have had mpfi for mor than a year now. But after swapping the head two weekends ago, Ive been having so much fun. I recommend it

Keep the PM6. It is easier to chip, which will allow you to make more power than the PG7 ever would.

I put it in my CRX Si and the check engine came on, put the Pm6 back, no problems. And it runs the same.

im with maverick. it may sound outlandish to you, but i gained a constant tenth through the 1/4 mile, and a constant 1.5mph trap speed at the end of the 1/4 with the pg7 over the PM6. if you were in hawaii i could prove it to you. there are some that say the PM6 is way better, but i was the judge of that.
