CEL 22: valve timing oil pressure switch... Howdo i tell if switch is bad?
Hey everyone. Here's the deal. This CEL 22 code doesn't pop up very often. It tends to come up at night at around 65 degrees. At all other temps, no code. I have a VAFC also so I am wondering if this may be a wiring problem with the vafc. (like a butt connector got somehow messed up).
My question is: How do I check the valve timing oil pressure switch to be sure the switch is the culprit?
Thanx guys
Here is some background info on the setup:
00 USDM b18c5 shortblock.
99 USDM b16a2 head with itr internals and cams.
p2t ecu.
VAFC.
Stock JDM itr 4-1.
Stock itr intake.

well. For anyone who may search this in the future here is what I found.
The test is to clear the ecu code 22.
Road test, bringing the engine up past 6k rpm for longer than 2 seconds. If the code does not come back then repeat 2x. If the code does not appear again during the road test then the diagnosis is a intemittent valve timing oil pressure switch failure. If the code does appear again then it is a switch failure also.
Solution: Replace switch.
Thanx for everyone's help.
