Default Help: Jspec b18cR in usdm ITR, is it safe?

My friend just recently got his type R stolen and he was considering putting the b18c from Japan into his shell. I know the compression is higher in Japan and they run a higher octane. How safe is it to run that motor on 91 octane if the motor from japan was almost brand new?? thanks

It is fine. They don't run higher octane, they have a different rating system.

There are a lot of b18c-r's running around the US, they all run on 91-93

same here. I've got the j-spec b18-cR in my car and it runs fine on 91 octane. I did notice it ran a bit smoother/stronger after adding octane booster.

Yeah we use a different octane rating system but I thought our 98 was the same(more or less) as your 94?
