I want to replace my stock honda coil, which one? MSD? turbo CRX
I have an MSD 6AL wired to stock igniton coil, i would like to upgrade this. The car is a turbo honda running at 5 PSI, D series engine.
any MSD part numbers or product names would be greatly appreciated.
thanks

thanks
also it says something on the MSD website about a ballast resistor? Would i need one for my honda?
thanks again
thanks again
from what I have found using the search option i reckon part number 8207 to be suitable, can anyone comment if they have this coil on an MSD 6AL? is there any advantage to spending slightly more money on a coil better than the 8207?!?!?!
you dont need to upgrade. people have made up to 400+ hp on stock ignitions. but...if you want to throw your money away or impress teenagers when you open the hood....
the proper spark plug and gap will yield more power.
any reason you think you need to upgrade? 5 psi is well...piddley.

i want to upgrade because my stock honda coil is crap, it keeps mis firing and ive changed it out for the third time now. I would like my whole setup to be MSD as to eliminate all the teething problems im getting with my standard ignition. Ive heard honda coils are renound for burning out is this true?
The car will be upped to around 12 PSI when im done but im just playing it safe for now...

whats the gap on ur plugs? if its stock gap ,u should go to a smaller gap. im also running an msd ignition with the stock coil. im running 7 psi and when the plugs were at stock gap which is .044 (i think) it would misfire all the time. then i gapped them to .033 and now theres no misfires what so ever.

really? how confusing the msd manual says to go larger than stock but i'll try gapping them smaller and see. Are you using a SAFC with your setup by any chance?
still getting problems. the spark plugs are gapped to 0.30 previously gapped at 0.40 and ive tried also 0.50. I think its something other than the spark plug gap possibly ignitor coil or something

I doubt your problem is your coil. Lemme guess, you change spark plugs and get 200-700 miles before you misfire under boost? The power output feels diminished and, for lack of a better word, muddy?
I guess your problem is "high speed glazing," my stunna friend. Check plug gap, plug temperature, and most importantly your AFR off boost. You're probably running a tad rich, the soot is sticking to your plugs, and when you hit boost instead of burning light deposits off (as in a well tuned setup) the excess hydrocarbons get burned into the ceramic, which creates an easier path to ground than crossing the plug gap.
I've had bad problems with Densos and Autolites glazing, steel electrode NGKs are the way to go IMO.

one of the plugs had kind of welded itself shut lol
I currently have NGK plugs not sure of the model. I have ordered an MSD coil (8207) anyways cuz i will need it in future but i also have a spare stock honda coil so i'll try that first. thanks dude
